Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor (born 26 June 1985) is an Indian actor working in Hindi films.He is the Surinder Kapoor family’s first-born child and the son of Mona Shourie and movie producer Boney Kapoor. With the drama Ishaqzaade, which was commercially successful and won him multiple prizes, including the Stardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow – Male, Kapoor made his acting debut in 2012. His commercial success continued with the 2014 movies Gunday and 2 States. A string of commercial failures in his career followed, with the exception of the 2016 romance drama Ki & Ka.

Early life and family

Arjun Kapoor was born in a Punjabi family. born on June 26, 1985, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to businesswoman Mona Shourie Kapoor and movie producer Boney Kapoor. Arjun is Surinder Kapoor, a filmmaker,’s grandson. He is the first cousin of actress Sonam Kapoor, actors Mohit Marwah, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and producer Rhea Kapoor. He is also the nephew of actors Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, and Sandeep Marwah. Anshula Kapoor is his younger sister. His stepmother was the actress Sridevi, and he also has two half-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. When his father and mother divorced, he was 11 years old.

Regarding his father’s second marriage, Kapoor stated in an interview: “When we were youngsters, it was difficult. What can you do, though? How much longer will you whine? You must accept the situation as it is, take it on the chin, and go on. We don’t really get together and spend time together,  His mum passed away in 2012. But things got better between him and his half-sisters Khushi and Jahnvi after Sridevi passed away in 2018. I

Kapoor received his education at the Mumbai Arya Vidya Mandir school, where he remained till the 11th grade. He stopped studying after his eleventh grade exams were a failure. He didn’t even finish the 12th grade. Kapoor developed obesity in his teens and early 20s, when he weighed about 140 kg; he later claimed that this condition caused him to be “sloppy, grumpy,” and “under-confident.”

Career

On Nikhil Advani’s Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003, Kapoor worked as an assistant director for the first time. Additionally, he worked as an assistant director for Advani’s subsequent film Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love (2007) and as an associate producer for two of his father’s productions, No Entry (2005) and Wanted (2009). Then, Kapoor agreed to a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films, a prestigious Indian production firm.

In 2011, it was announced that Kapoor will debut with a film named Virus Diwan, produced under Yash Raj Films, which was shelved after sometime. Later, he signed on to debut with the company’s romantic drama Ishaqzaade (2012) alongside Parineeti Chopra, which tells the love story between a son and daughter of a Hindu and Muslim political family, respectively. With Gunday, a crime action movie that also stars Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra, Kapoor collaborated with Yash Raj Films for the third time in a row for his first movie of 2014. In the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film, he and Singh played two brazen bandits who fell in love with a dancer (Chopra). He described his persona as “temperamental” and a “moment’s heat”. The movie is described as a “unabashed love letter to the 1970s” by cinema critic Anupama Chopra. Gunday was a commercial hit that earned over 1.3 billion yen (about US$16 million) globally.

Arjun made his acting debut with the film Ishaqzaade 10 years ago. Till date, he has appeared in around 14-15 films and is working on more 4-5 films currently. Arjun’s 2014 film 2 States was a blockbuster hit and earned more than 150 crores. However, besides that, his movies have not performed well at the box office

Personal life and off-screen works

Before he became an actor, Kapoor had a romance with Arpita Khan, Salman Khan’s sister. In 2014, he started dating Sonakshi Sinha, his Tevar co-star, but they split up a year later. He has been seeing Malaika Arora since 2016. In addition to serving as Chelsea F.C.’s brand ambassador for India, Kapoor is an enthusiastic supporter of the team and an avid football fan. Prior to FC Pune City’s dissolution in 2019 due to financial and technical issues, Kapoor served as a brand ambassador for a number of companies and goods. He was appointed as a brand ambassador by Philips as well. Alongside Ranveer Singh, he served as a brand ambassador for Hero Cycles, Flying Machine, and Royal Stag. As of 2017, he also supports Admiral England Sportswear & Sportshoes and Smith & Jones Ketchup, Condiments and Sauces.

In 2015, Kapoor and Singh co-hosted the IIFA Awards ceremony. The seventh season of the reality TV programme Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7 was hosted by him as well.
