He represents Punjab in domestic cricket and Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Arshdeep is a left-arm medium-fast bowler who bats in the lower order. Arshdeep made his international debut for India in a Twenty20 International (T20I) against England in July 2022. He bowled a  maiden over on debut, becoming only the third Indian bowler to do so on their T20I debut.

Early life

Arshdeep Singh (cricketer) Born, Height, Weight, Girlfriend, Family & MoreArshdeep Singh was born on 5 February 1999 in a Sikh family Darshan Singh and Baljit Kaur from Guna, Madhya Pradesh. He is a Left-arm Medium-fast Bowler and plays in the  Indian under 19 team. His father was assigned to Guna as a member of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), for which he served for almost 25 years. Later, the family relocated to Kharar, near Chandigarh. He began playing gully cricket with neighbourhood youths before enrolling at Jaswant Rai’s cricket academy in Chandigarh in 2015. Akashdeep Singh, his elder brother, lives in Brampton, Canada.

Domestic career

He was a member of the Indian under-19 squad that won the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and later played for the under-23 national team. He represented Punjab’s under-23 cricket team in the  CK Nayudu Trophy in 2018. In a match against Rajasthan under-23s, he got eight wickets, including a hat-trick, in the second inning and ten wickets overall. Arshdeep went on to make his List A debut for Punjab in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on September 19, 2018, and his first-class debut against Vidarbha in the 2019–20 Ranji Troph in January 2019.

In the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League, he was purchased by Kings XI Punjab in December 2018. On April 16, 2019, he made his Twenty20 debut for the team. He concluded the season as the team’s second-highest wicket-taker and was touted as a potential star. Arshdeep was picked to India’s roster for the  2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh in November 2019. He was selected one of five net bowlers for India’s tour of Sri Lanka in June 2021. Following a positive case of COVID-19 in the Indian team, he was named to the main squad for the tour’s final two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches.

He was picked to India’s T20I squad for their series against South Africa in May 2022, and the following month he was named to India’s T20I squad for their two-match series against Ireland. Arshdeep agreed to play up to five County Championship matches for Kent County Cricket Club during the  2023 English cricket season in March 2023.

International career

Arshdeep Singh (cricketer) Born, Height, Weight, Girlfriend, Family & MoreSingh was picked to India’s One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) squads for their tour of England in June 2022. In July 2022, he was picked to India’s ODI team once more, this time for an away series against the West Indies. On 7 July 2022, he made his T20I debut against England at Southampton, grabbing the final two England wickets and delivering a rare maiden over on debut. He grabbed seven wickets in two T20Is against the West Indies and was picked to India’s squad for the 2022 Asia Cup on August 8, 2022.

Arshdeep was picked to India’s squad for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in September. In the team’s first match against Pakistan, he took a wicket with his first ball and finished with 3/32 in 4 overs. With 10 wickets in six matches and a bowling average of 15.60 runs per wicket, he was India’s best wicket-taker in the tournament. Arshdeep made his One Day International (ODI) debut against  New Zealand in Auckland in November 2022. He played in all three One-Day Internationals but did not take a wicket, while he did take four wickets in the two T20Is.
