Kiran Kumar Reddy

(now in Telangana, India). His father, Amaranath Reddy, served as a minister in P. V. Narasimha Rao’s administration, and Kiran Kumar Reddy is a member of the Indian National Congress party. His ancestors are from Nagaripalle in the Annamayya district of Chittoor, which is close to Kalikiri. He attended Hyderabad Public School for his education.
Kiran earned his B.Com. from Nizam College and his LL.B. from Osmania University’s University College of Law. reddy played cricket competitively in college. He graduated with Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mohammad Azharuddin, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, who both played for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy. He also served as captain of the cricket teams for Osmania University, South Zone Universities, and Hyderabad’s under-22s.Additionally, he spent some time attending Besant Theosophical High School in Chennai.

Career in Politics
After his father passed away in 1989, Reddy was chosen to serve in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was a member of the Assurance Committee and Public Undertakings Committee. In 1989, 1999, and 2004 he represented Native Vayalpadu (Valmikipuram) in the state assembly. When Congress was trounced in the Chittoor district in 1994, he lost. After Valmikipuram was combined with Pileru’s constituency as a result of delimitation, he won in 2009. He was the Congress government top whip for five years starting in 2004 before being appointed speaker. He is a well-known YSR supporter. On March 10, 2014, he made the announcement that Chundru Srihari Rao would serve as the party’s founding president.
He re-joined the Congress party in July 2018 while Rahul Gandhi, the AICC President, was present.
As Speaker
In June 2009, Reddy was unanimously chosen to serve as Speaker of the 13th Andhra Pradesh Assembly. Former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, Agriculture minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, and two other independents all suggested his name for the speaker’s position.
As Chief Minister
After K Rosaiah, the previous chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, resigned in 2011 for personal reasons, Reddy was appointed as the new chief minister by the Congress Legislature Party and approved party. Following the Lok Sabha’s passage of the Telangana bill on February 19, 2014, he resigned from his positions as Chief Minister, MLA (legislator), and chairman of the Congress party.

Mee Seva, Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu, the SC/ST Sub-Plan, Bangaru Thalli, Mana Biyyam, Amma Hastham, and the Chittor water project are just a few of the programmes that Reddy is credited with starting.
