Kiren Rijiju
Kiren Rijiju (born 19 November 1971) is an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh, who has been a member of the Lok Sabha since 2014 and previously represented the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat from 2004 to 2009. He is currently serving as the 34th Cabinet Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India, in the Modi cabinet since 2021. He formerly held the positions of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports from 2019 to 2021, Minister of State (Minority Affairs) from 2019 to 2021, and Minister of State for Home Affairs (India) from 2014 to 2019.
Early life and Education
Rijiju was born on 19 November 1971 at In the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India, Nakhu is a town close to Nafra. He is the child of Chirai Rijiju and Rinchin Kharu. His father served as Arunachal Pradesh’s first pro-tem speaker and administered the oath to the first state legislative assembly’s members. He was an excellent athlete in college, and as of February 2023, he can be seen competing in football and badminton. Rijiju did his graduation degree (B.A.) from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. Further, in 1998, he did his graduate degree in law (LL.B) from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

Political career
Kiren Rijiju is recognised as the party’s spokesperson in North East India. From 2000 until 2005, he served as a commissioner for the Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Rijiju was appointed India’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2019. He was chosen in the general election of 2004 to serve as a member of the 14th Lok Sabha, representing Arunachal West, the fourth-largest parliamentary district in India in terms of area, in the Indian Parliament. He was one of the 14th Lok Sabha’s most intelligent and outspoken lawmakers.
Rijiju entered the Lok Sabha for the second time in 2014 from the Arunachal (West) constituency of Arunachal Pradesh in India.Rijiju was ranked among the top five opposition MPs in the treasury bench between 2004 and 2009 based on high standards in debates, discussions, and decorum; . Advani and was named the best young MP by numerous national news organisations and publications. In the very contentious general election of 2009, where Rijiju lost to the Congress candidate by a razor-thin margin of 1314 votes, there was widespread rioting a Member of Parliament for the 16th Lok Sabha, representing the Arunachal West constituency, in the 2014 general election.
Rijiju defeated Indian National Congress candidate Takam Sanjoy by a margin of 43,738 votes. In the first Council of Ministers under Narendra Modi, he was immediately appointed Minister of State for the Home. “Nobody should teach India any lessons on how to deal with migrants,” he said, “since India has taken in the most refugees in the entire globe. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports as well as Minority Affairs. He was named Cabinet Minister of Law and Justice in the Second Modi ministry following a cabinet reorganisation in July 2021.
Personal life
In 2004, he wed Joram Rina Rijiju. She holds a gold award from Arunachal University and graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in New Delhi. She teaches history at Dera Natung Government College in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, as an associate professor.
