Early life


Shetty was born in 14 March 1974 to Bollywood junior artist Ratna Shetty, who has appeared in Hindi and Kannada films, and M. B. Shetty. Career


1991–2002: Early work

At the age of 17, Shetty started his career as an assistant director on Phool Aur Kaante, the debut movie of Ajay Devgn. He later collaborated with Ajay Devgn on the films Suhaag, Haqeeqat, and Zulmi. In Suhaag, he served as Akshay Kumar’s body duplicate. He later appeared in the Devgn-starring films Raju Chacha, Hindustan Ki Kasam, and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha.

2003–2009: Directorial debut and breakthrough

Before becoming famous in 2006 for directing the first episode of Devgn’s classic comedy series Golmaal, which became his first smash, Shetty made his directorial debut in 2003 with Zameen, a film with an average box office performance starring Ajay Devgn. His next two films, the comedic thriller Sunday and the popular Golmaal Returns prequel, both starring Ajay Devgn, were theatrically released in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

2010–present: Commercial success
