Vidyut Jammwal
Vidyut Dev Singh Jammwal (born 10 December 1980) is an Indian martial artist, actor, and film producer who primarily makes Hindi-language films. He practises Kalaripayattu as well. He has won numerous prizes, including one Filmfare Awar d, but is perhaps most recognised for his parts in the Commando film series. In all three of his film debuts—in Telugu with Sakthi, Hindi with Force, and Tamil with Billa II—he played antagonistic parts. In the popular movie Commando, he played his first leading role. He continued to act in films, making appearances in Anjaan, Thuppakki, Baadshaho, Commando 2, Junglee, Yaara, Commando 3, and Sanak, among others.
Early and Personal Life
Vidyut Jammwal was born in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. One of three children born to an Army officer, he spent his childhood moving around India due to his father’s transferable work. He began learning Kalaripayattu at the age of three at a mother-run ashram in Palakkad, Kerala . He visited numerous nations to train with martial artists in a variety of styles, some of which have their roots in Kalaripayattu. Jammwal visited approximately 25 countries during his travels, where he appeared in live action productions.
Jammwal is a rock climber and a vegan. Vidyut Jamwal confirmed his engagement to fashion designer Nandita Mahtanion September 1, 2021. Vidyut and Nandita called off their engagement in 2023.

Career
In 2011, Jammwal made his Bollywood debut in the remake of the Tamil movie Kaakha Kaakha, Force, starring John Abraham . He had a bad character in the movie and received several best debut honours, such as the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Jammwal played antagonistic parts in the 2011 Telugu films Shakti and Oosaravelli, both of which starred NTR. Jammwal made his debut in Tamil film in 2012’s Billa II, playing the antagonist opposite Ajith Kumar, for which he received positive reviews from critics. In the same year, he costarred with actor Vijay in the blockbuster film Thuppakki as the antagonist. Additionally, he was honoured with a SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role.
Turning point in acting career and success (2013-present)
Later, Jammwal played the lead role in the Hindi-language film Commando, engaging in real-world combat-based action without the use of stuntmen. The movie originally shown in front of an international audience in July 2013 at the Fantasia Film Fest in Montreal. In September 2013, it was shown at the Fantastic Fest in Texas. International media outlets and action movie filmmakers praised him, referring to him as India’s Tony Jaa and Bruce Lee. He portrayed a sniper cop in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja following the success of Commando. He costarred with Suriya in the 2014 Tamil movie Anjaan in a supporting role.
Jammwal starred in Commando 2, the box office hit follow-up to Commando, in 2017. His subsequent film that year, Baadshaho, in which he portrayed Major Seher Singh, had a mediocre international box office performance. In the 2019 Bollywood films Junglee and Commando 3, both directed by American Chuck Russell, Jammwal played the lead role. The latter saw him return to the Commando series, and it ended up being the franchise’s most lucrative movie.
His subsequent endeavour was the official remake of the French movie Les Lyonnais, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Yaara. Vidyut signed on to three projects, two of which were large-format pictures by Ram Madhvani that evoked the atmosphere of the Hollywood film 300. One of those projects was Yaara. He starred in the action thriller Khuda Haafiz in 2020, which was based on actual occurrences. His biggest opening of all time, and the same actors were cast in the sequel, Khuda Haafiz Chapter II. In the film Sanak, he also had the lead part.
