Yohani (Singer)
Yohani (born 30 July 1993) is an Sri Lankan singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and also a famous YouTuber. As a YouTuber, she got her music career started. Yohani quickly became well-known for her rap rendition of “Deviyange Bare” and went on to release other covers of both her singing and rapping, earning the moniker “Rap Princess” of Sri Lanka. She became well-known and received widespread acclaim for her rendition of “Manike Mage Hithe.” She also became the first female artist from Sri Lanka to achieve 3.58 million YouTube subscribers.
Early Lifestyle
Yohani Diloka de Silva Who was born on 30 July 1993 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is the offspring of Major General Prasanna de Silva, a former Army commander. Dinithi de Silva, her mother, had worked as cabin crew for Sri Lankan Airlines. She has been a practicing Buddhist since she was a young child. Shavindri de Silva, Yohani’s younger sister, is a current medical student. Both daughters were raised on several Army bases in Sri Lanka as a result of their father’s background in the armed forces.
Yohani’s mother recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music at a young age. Yohani’s interest in music and practice started early in her life. Because her parents frequently listened to the BeeGees, Spice Girls, AR Rahman, and Elton John, she grew up surrounded by their love of music. Prior to pursuing her profession as an artist, she earned her further education at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in Logistics Management and Professional Accounting. She also graduated from CQUniversity Australia with a master’s in accounting.

Career in Music
When Yohani returned to Sri Lanka in March 2019, her singing career grabbed center stage. She joined Pettah Effect, a record label that Dilanjan co-founded and that was operated by a lot of fresh talent. As one of her first-ever important brand endorsements, Prima Kottu Mee hired Yohani as their Brand Ambassador in February 2020 for a two-year term. Yohani was subsequently signed by Red Bull Records, and her first song, “Aaye,” will be released in August 2020. There were new releases in the later half of 2020. The second will be a collaboration between Sitha Dawuna and Chamath Sangeeth in September 2020.
The third was a song that resonated with islanders who had lived through a 30-year conflict. In May 2021, she uploaded a cover of the song “Manike Mage Hithe” to YouTube and received 200 million views. Additionally, she had finished recording her debut Sinhala album, which consists of twelve songs. She intends to premiere the album live in concert in December 2021.
